My latest work is called “Tenha Fé, Pois Amanhã um Lindo Dia Vai Nascer” (translated: Have faith, because tomorrow a beautiful day will be born)

The creation of this work was inspired by a journey through Latin America and the song “Tenha Fé, Pois Amanhã um Lindo Dia Vai Nascer” by the Brazilian samba group “Os Originais do Samba”, after which it is also named. (On the second slide you can see a video of the painting mixed with a live recording of the song.)

The painting reflects, on the one hand, the contrasts of Latin America and at the same time the indescribable beauty of its landscapes, cultures and people, as well as their outlook on life. Despite often simple living conditions, I have rarely encountered a society as positive, hopeful and generous as I did there.

For me, the story depicted is a symbolic bearer of hope: leaving bad days and negativity behind, perceiving the “here and now” with mindfulness and gratitude, and despite real obstacles, looking towards a better future with confidence and filled with positivity.

This is exactly what the song “Tenha Fé, Pois Amanhã um Lindo Dia Vai Nascer” is about. Here are a few meaningful passages from the song along with their translation that inspired me to realize this work:

“Nunca tenha medo do seu inimigo quando não é você que começa a brigar. Também nunca ande de cabeça baixa e bem danado pois nem tudo que cai do céu é sagrado.”
(Never be afraid of your enemy when you are not the one who started the fight. And never walk with your head down and full of bitterness, because not everything that falls from the sky is sacred.)

“Maré que enche e vaza, deixa a praia descoberta. Uma onda vai, outra onda vem. Não fique triste que seu amor pode vir também.”
(The tide that rises and falls leaves the beach exposed. One wave goes, another wave comes. Don’t be sad, your love may come as well.)

“Infeliz no jogo, feliz no amor. Saúde e felicidade, pra dar e vender. Se a reza é forte, você vai ver que amanhã um lindo dia vai nascer.”
(Unlucky in the game, lucky in love. Health and happiness, enough to give and share. If the prayer is strong, you will see that tomorrow a beautiful day will be born.)

“Aí então você vai me dizer se eu tenho razão. Sim ou não? Pois é por experiência própria que eu perdoei o meu coração.”
(Then you will tell me if I am right. Yes or no? Because it is from my own experience that I forgave my heart.)
