J. Cole – See World:

See world, you’re no good.

Description

This is the portrait of a black child crying. It’s the first oil painting I ever did.

One day I found an amazing picture online, of this young black boy crying. It gave me goosebumps and I wanted to use him as a motive in my artwork immediately. The dark chapters on our earth often preoccupy me. Problems like racism, war, poverty, death and climate change. As I saw the photograph of this young black boy crying I felt so sad and I felt so guilty even though I didn’t knew the exact reasons for his mourning. Then I just sat there and I began to imagine about all the possible reasons. A few days I began this oil painting. I decided to title it after J. Cole’s song “see world”. The name outlines the reaction of the viewer. It was the feeling this little boy gave me, when I first saw him. “Hey world – we have some serious problems here. Why won’t anyone help us?” Let’s have a positive impact on the world.
