Fade Away

Description

This work portrays Lisa Vicari in her role as Martha Nielsen – later known as Eva – from the complex Netflix series Dark.
Inspired by one of the show’s final and most powerful scenes, the painting captures the moment when Martha and Jonas break the “knot” – fully aware that by doing so, they are erasing their own existence.

The scene takes place in the origin world – beyond the parallel realities and time loops. Hand in hand, with a tender gaze full of depth and understanding, they quietly say goodbye – to each other, and to everything.

The painting not only reflects the tragic love story between the two characters, but also the core idea of Dark: that time is not linear, that past, present, and future are inseparably intertwined – and that every beginning is also an end.

In the painterly interpretation, their bodies slowly fade – a quiet, poetic moment of dissolution.
