Faces Pt. 8 depicts a woman in profile, her gaze turned to the side. It is the same woman who faces the viewer directly in Faces Pt. 9 – yet here, she appears more closed off, introspective.
The painting invites viewers to reflect on inner states and fleeting moods that reveal themselves only in subtle nuances – and yet touch us deeply.
